HI… My name is Kaycee Simuong.
I am a 28 year old female who has found my calling as an organic vegetable grower. Before that, I was working in environmental science but I found that super soul destroying, and it didn’t give me a connection to the earth that I was looking for. So I quit, bought a van and cruised round the east coast for 6 months and checked out some farms here and there. After a three month internship at Transition Farm I was sold on growing food. I found my connection, my purpose, my new lifestyle. I decided to take a huge leap and start growing solo not long after.
After a few plots on different farms, I have found paradise at a farm called The Mandarin Bend, which is 30km inland from Bowraville on the Mid North Coast. I am growing garlic and seasonal veggies alongside my two besties, Tom Macindoe (@fruitsandrootsfarmer) and our black labrador, Molly.
I have a desire to change our broken food system – to educate people about the joys and benefits of seasonal, organic eating and to inspire more young people to connect back to the land and start growing. The time for change is now… Get on board!
